Want Something Hip and New? The Upstage Is for You E-mail

For Samsung, 2007 turned out to be a promising year for the company. As one of the leaders in wireless communications and digital technology, Samsung introduced a hip new addition to their mobile phone family: The Upstage M620. What people only dared to imagine, they made a reality.

Samsung has advertised the Upstage M620 as their “Jekyll and Hyde” phone. According to Beyonce’s TV commercial, it’s all talk on one side, and all music on the other. The phone’s finish is in matte black and chrome, which is smartly attractive. The Upstage’s vital stats are 103 x 44 x 9 mm, with an impressive weight of 73 grams. Since the phone is already slim, the battery is an integral part of the Upstage, and can’t be taken out. To extend the battery life, a battery wallet is included upon purchase, in which the Upstage easily clips on to.

Talking about display, the Upstage can’t live up to its name if it doesn’t have two LCD screens. On the phone side, the LCD screen has 175 x 65 pixel resolution, and can display 65,000 colors. When dialing numbers, each digit appears in a different color, a unique feature for the Upstage. The music player side needs a larger LCD screen to display album covers, play music videos and TV clips, and browse through the internet. It’s 176 x 220 pixels and displays 262,000 colors.

Since the Upstage is Bluetooth capable, stereo headsets and hands-free sets can easily be used. Some critics like the Bluetooth caller ID that the Upstage does. When using a Bluetooth headset and listening to music, and a call comes in, the Upstage will pause the song and announce the name of the caller.  Many users praise the excellent audio quality of the Upstage, which is good for its musical reputation.

One needs not to worry about running out of disk space for photos, files, and songs. The Upstage has an internal memory of 53MB, and the package comes with a removable 64MB SD card. For those users who download a lot more songs, the Upstage’s SD card can be replaced with a 2GB card.

So if you want to be hip, you can get ahead of the game with the Upstage. This new phone has made things a lot more convenient, and who knows? Things can only get better. And as Samsung would say, it’s not that hard to imagine.
